The long weekend from March 7 to March 9 began in Russia

Due to the fact that International Women's Day falls on Sunday this year, the weekend in Russia will last from March 7 to March 9. This was announced on March 7 by Anna Pokrovskaya, an assistant at the Department of Civil Law and Procedure and International Law at the RUDN Law Institute.

"International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8, falls on a Sunday this year. If a public holiday coincides with a weekend, the additional day off is postponed to the next business day. Thus, Russians will get a full—fledged long weekend," she told RIA Novosti.
