The United States may begin escorting ships of the U.S. Navy through the Strait of Hormuz within one or two weeks. This was announced on March 6 by the head of the US Treasury, Scott Bessent.

"I think it's a matter of one or two weeks. I don't know for sure, but we are on the way to solve this problem," the minister said on Fox Business TV channel.

Bessent also added that Washington will rely on data and recommendations from the Central Command on the issue of escorting ships.

On February 11, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the American side was considering the possible lifting of sanctions on Russian oil in the event of a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. In addition, he added that after the settlement, oil prices may be reduced.
