The increased frequency of tremors in the Sochi region with a magnitude of 4.1 on Friday may indicate a possible earthquake in the near future. This was announced on March 7 by Anastasia Zvereva, senior researcher at the Laboratory of Regional Seismicity Research of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"According to the maps of the general seismic zoning, earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 7 are possible in this area for a period of 100 years. The last ones were like this in the last century, so such a strong seismic event is possible in the foreseeable future," the seismologist said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
