Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that over the past 15 years, the capital's restorers have restored about 2.5 thousand architectural monuments. He recalled that on March 5, Restorer's Day is celebrated — the date is associated with the approval in 1994 of the requirements for the specialty "Restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage."

According to the mayor, about 700 more facilities are planned to be restored in Moscow by 2030, of which about 500 are already in operation, the Moscow City News agency reported on Friday, March 6.

The restoration of the Ostankino estate is currently underway, where, after the Egyptian Pavilion, specialists have turned to the Italian pavilion; it is planned to open to visitors in 2026, and the work in the palace will be fully completed by 2027. Work is also underway at the Kuzminki estate, where six monuments were previously restored, and now several outbuildings and outbuildings are being restored.

In addition, the restoration of Averky Kirillov chambers continues on Bersenevskaya Embankment. During the work, a treasure trove of coins from the XVI–XVII centuries was discovered there, which will be transferred to the Museum of Moscow. The facades of the Elokhovsky Cathedral are also being restored in the Basmanny district — the work is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.

Sobyanin stressed that the restoration of architectural monuments helps preserve the historical memory of the city and bring important cultural sites back to life, Moscow 24 notes.
