A Russian surfer was rescued after almost 20 hours of drifting in the sea off the coast of the Indonesian island of Bali. This was announced on March 6 by the Dewata.News platform.

The incident occurred on March 5, when 64-year-old Russian Yuri was swept into the ocean by a strong current while surfing in the Nusa Dua area (Badung District). The search was conducted by employees of the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

The man was discovered by a local fisherman, Putu Agus Putra Johana, about 5 km from the coast, in the waters near Lebih beach (Gianyar district).

"At first, I thought it was just a surfboard drifting in the sea. I wanted to take her home for my child. But when I got closer, I saw that someone was still holding her," the fisherman said.

Realizing the situation, Johan swam over to the surfer and helped the man board his boat. After that, he contacted fellow fishermen and the authorities for help in disembarking.

As confirmed by Gede Budaras, the head of the Gianyar police's water division, the rescued man was later picked up by his family, along with Basarnas employees and representatives of the hotel where he was staying.

After that, the surfer was taken for a medical examination. It is noted that he was weak after many hours at sea.

In the Sea of Okhotsk, near the village of Starodubskoe, on February 4, ice movements tore off an ice floe that formed a crack up to 6 m wide. The fault cut off a group of fishermen at a distance of about 800 m from the shore. Employees of the state inspection on snowmobiles immediately arrived at the scene. Rescuers quickly ferried people across the rift.
