The state traffic Inspectorate warned about mass raids on holidays
During the coming weekends and holidays, traffic police officers will be on duty in an enhanced mode. The police will pay special attention to identifying the facts of driving under the influence of alcohol. Such raids are reported by regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.
The raids will take place in the Ulyanovsk, Murmansk, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Kirov, Penza, Kurgan, Smolensk regions, as well as in the republics of Komi, Mari El, Karelia and other regions of the country.
"Driving while intoxicated is unacceptable in itself: such irresponsible and criminal behavior of the driver poses a threat to his life, as well as the lives of his passengers and other road users. We kindly ask the witnesses to inform the police about drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated. The necessary response measures will be taken for all these reports. Such a call can prevent a tragedy on the road and save someone's life," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the traffic police emphasize.
Earlier, on February 21, it became known that Moscow has become a leader in road safety in 2025. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the death toll in road accidents on the capital's roads was 2.2 people per 100,000 population.
