A case has been opened into the death of a teenager in a roof collapse in Nizhny Novgorod.

A criminal case on the death of a minor in the collapse of the roof of an abandoned building was opened in Nizhny Novgorod. This was announced on Friday, March 6, by the Regional Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence")," the agency said in a statement on the VKontakte social network.

It is emphasized that the deceased died of his injuries at the scene of the tragedy. After the incident, investigators and criminologists were immediately sent there, who have already begun work: they are interrogating witnesses and appointing examinations.

The investigation of the incident is under special control of the SU IC in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Based on its results, a legal assessment will be given to the measures taken to preserve the abandoned building and restrict access to it by unauthorized persons.
