Dmitry Tsarev, head of Bi.Zone's cloud cybersecurity solutions department, said that the number of phishing emails related to March 8 increased sixfold in February.

In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Friday, March 6, the specialist also spoke about the main fraudulent schemes on the eve of the holiday. Tsarev noted that during the pre—holiday weeks, people receive more letters - notifications of orders, invoices, delivery confirmations, and promotions. According to him, the urgency of such messages does not arouse suspicion, which is actively used by scammers.

He said that the attackers were sending fake invoices for flowers and gifts with fake store branding or malicious attachments. In another scheme, victims are informed of problems with delivery and are asked to confirm the order urgently. Links lead to phishing websites of logistics companies and allow them to steal credentials.

In addition, fraudsters use holiday promotions by March 8, offering discounts or gifts and asking them to fill out a form, confirm card details or log into their personal account, after which they receive personal and payment information.

On the same day, Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, warned that on the eve of March 8, fraudsters were increasing their activity, disguising themselves as delivery services and flower shops, in order to obtain bank card data and one-time codes from SMS. Nemkin clarified that scammers create fake flower and gift delivery sites, the website notes. kp.ru .

At the same time, Roskachestvo warned that scammers on the eve of International Women's Day began posting offers to sell flowers at favorable prices on the web and in chat rooms. The scheme works according to the principle of classic "prepaid" fraud. People want to save money and fall into the trap of scammers, IA Regnum clarifies.

Artem Kiryanov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, said on March 6 that on the eve of March 8, residents of large cities who more often order flowers and gifts via the Internet with delivery should remain vigilant so as not to become victims of fraudsters. The parliamentarian stressed that the authorities are constantly improving legislation aimed at combating fraudsters, RT notes.

On March 5, Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center, gave recommendations on how to safely purchase gift certificates. He advised purchasing them only on the official websites of stores or marketplaces. In addition, Kuzmenko emphasized the need to visit these sites independently through a browser or an official application, notes 360.ru .

On March 4, it was reported that on the eve of March 8, experts from the Call Yourself project warned about scammers who send links to fake websites with low prices, ask for an SMS code to allegedly deliver a gift, and send postcards with viruses to steal money and personal data, the Moscow City News agency reports.

At the end of February, Angara Security experts warned that in the run-up to March 8, fraudsters had intensified, using a scheme with fake delivery of flowers ordered by a "secret admirer" to extort money and personal data. In addition, the number of online dating scams is on the rise.
