The main audience of buyers of the new Lada Vesta Sport will be car enthusiasts. These are petrolheads, for which not only the visual image is important, but also how the car behaves on the road. This opinion was shared by Alexander Efimov, CEO of Peter-Lada.
"They come to us not just for a means of transportation, but for emotions. Feedback on the steering wheel, the accuracy of entering turns, and the ability to experience the car are important to them. These are often people who follow motorsport, appreciate the sports engineering school and consciously choose a driver's advanced car," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Yefimov as saying on March 6.
As the specialist noted, the company understands that Lada Vesta Sport is a niche and image-based product, so sales will not be great. However, this model has practically no direct competitors in the market in terms of price, technical component and manageability, he pointed out.
AvtoVAZ announced the start of production of Lada Vesta Sport cars at the end of February. The car with a modified sports chassis and the most powerful engine in the production line of Lada models has received a number of technical updates. The Vesta Sport powertrain is based on a 1.8 L Evo engine. Its peak power has been increased to 147 hp due to the modernization of a number of parts and systems.
Lada Vesta Sport will be offered in sedan and station wagon bodies. The automaker promised to disclose information about the cost of the new sports model and its trim levels closer to the start of sales.
Earlier that day, the Moskvich automobile plant launched sales of two new crossovers from the M-line — the five-seat M70 and the seven-seat M90. The most affordable model costs from 3.1 million rubles.
