Trump announced plans to send Rubio to Cuba as part of negotiations with Havana.
On March 6, US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to send Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Cuba as part of negotiations between Washington and Havana.
The head of the White House earlier that day noted that possible future US actions against Cuba were only a "matter of time," but the United States wanted to "finish with Iran" first.
The day before, the American leader said that the political regime in Cuba could collapse. Trump also confirmed that the United States is in touch with the communist leadership of Cuba, as instability on the island is intensifying after the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
