The statements of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, that he is ready to provide his specialists in air defense (air defense), the fight against drones, are mostly rhetorical, that is, informational in nature. Military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia about this on March 6.

"Most likely, nothing real will follow this. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, Ukrainians themselves, or rather Zelensky himself, need such specialists. Either they are, or anti-aircraft guided missiles, or air defense systems. He agrees to everything," the specialist noted.

Another reason is that the United States itself once trained these specialists and has its own staff on this issue, Leonkov said. However, there is also a political context: American leader Donald Trump is unlikely to agree to Zelensky's specialists participating in the conflict with Iran.

"It will be some kind of political damage to Trump's image <...>. But the Iranian conflict has further aggravated the situation. Therefore, Zelensky can say anything, suggest anything, but he is not the one who is a trendsetter. The Americans will sort this situation out themselves," Leonkov said.

The expert noted that Washington will only be able to attract partners and NATO allies to help, they cannot rely on any others.

On the same day, the Reuters news agency reported that Ukrainian anti-drone specialists, who were sent to the countries of the Middle East by Zelensky allegedly at the request of the United States, intend to start working on American military bases in the coming days.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on March 5 that the Pentagon and at least one Persian Gulf country are negotiating the purchase of Ukrainian interceptor drones to protect against Iranian drones. The media pointed out that Zelensky declared Kiev's readiness to exchange interceptor drones for PAC-3 missiles, which are sufficient in the Middle East.
