To look stylish, you don't need to change your entire wardrobe, just add a few trendy details and combine basic items in a new way. Anna Skorokhodova, designer and founder of by SKOROKHODOVA, told Izvestia about this on March 6.
According to the expert, one of the most popular trends of spring 2026 is minimalism and laconic silhouettes. A simple white shirt, straight jeans, a vest over a shirt — all these elements can be easily combined with existing items, creating new images. Another trend is a light color palette that easily fits into any wardrobe: milk, cream, light blue and sand shades. These colors can become the basis of both monochrome images and contrasting combinations.
"The easiest way to update your wardrobe is with accent accessories. It can be a bright scarf, large earrings, a belt of some unusual shape, an angular bag or bright colored sunglasses. Accessories are really one of the most budget—friendly ways to add trendiness to an image," the stylist noted.
She also stressed that an 80-20 strategy can be used to effectively update the wardrobe: 80% of the wardrobe consists of basic items, and 20% are trendy items such as vests, which can be easily combined with jeans or trousers. Wide belts with large buckles and denim are also relevant and easily fit into a casual style.
In addition to shopping, an important step will be to review your existing wardrobe. The next step will be to divide things into categories, make a list of missing and trending items, and then purchase kits.
"Each item, according to the rule, according to such good stylistic arithmetic, should be combined with at least three existing items. If you do not know what you will combine the products with, such a purchase should be postponed until the time when a particular item will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe," the stylist said.
According to Skorokhodova, stylization is also important: it is worth changing the proportions, using layering, vintage elements and accessories. This will allow you to refresh the image without spending extra money.
"You don't have to buy a lot of things in order to transform your wardrobe. It is enough to analyze trends precisely, choose the ones you like and try on these positions, trying to combine them with the existing basic wardrobe in order to refresh the specific images to which you are already accustomed," the expert concluded.
On February 21, fashion expert and stylist Vladislav Lisovets said that natural hair tones and natural light styling will be on trend in the spring of 2026. He also noted that the coloring in the spring of this year will be close to the natural shades — light brown, blonde with dark roots.
