Putin was informed about the situation with demography and medicine in the Nizhny Novgorod region

On Friday, March 6, Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the socio-economic indicators of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, including demographics and the healthcare system.

"One of the main priorities is demography. The initiatives of the region are showing their results. Here I would like to note that for the first time in the history of observations, the total fertility rate (TFR) in the Nizhny Novgorod region exceeded the average for the Volga Federal District," Nikitin said.

He noted that a set of demographic measures launched since last year has helped to achieve such results. Nikitin told about the payment of 1 million rubles, which is due at the birth of each child.
