Hungary detains Ukrainians, including ex-general of special services, with currency and gold

Seven Ukrainian citizens, including a former intelligence general, were detained in Hungary on suspicion of money laundering. This was announced on March 6 by the National Tax and Customs Service (NAV).

"On March 5, seven Ukrainian citizens, including a former intelligence general, and two armored vehicles for transporting cash were arrested," the ministry said in a statement.

The detained cars contained $40 million, €35 million and 9 kg of gold. The vehicles were traveling from Austria to Ukraine. A money laundering case has been initiated.
