After the reconstruction, the Yuzhnoye Butovo sports complex was opened
The renovated Yuzhnoye Butovo sports complex has opened on Polyana Street in Moscow after reconstruction, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
According to the mayor, the most comfortable conditions have been created for sports. "Over 2.1 thousand people will be able to come here every day," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in the IACH.
During the reconstruction, the facade and roof were repaired, the engineering systems and basins of the pools were updated, and the interior decoration of the premises was completed. Modern equipment and furniture were also installed.
Now visitors to the complex can use two pools (for children and adults), the large one has been equipped with a professional timekeeping system with the results displayed on the scoreboard. The sports complex also has a gym, a martial arts hall, a fencing hall with two tracks, outdoor and indoor tennis courts. There is a workout area next to the complex, as well as parking for cars and bicycles.
According to the mayor, "training sessions in synchronized swimming, water polo, squash, beach tennis, boxing, hand-to-hand combat, self-defense for women and other sports will be organized on the basis of the sports complex in the near future."
In February, Sobyanin announced the approval of the main tasks for the development of publicly accessible physical culture and sports in Moscow for 2026. Among the priorities are the holding of more than 200 major sporting events, the construction and reconstruction of dozens of infrastructure facilities, the construction of new playgrounds and recreation areas by the water.
According to the mayor, the number of Muscovites who systematically engage in physical education and sports has grown to 6.8 million people in 2025. 15 years ago, this figure was only 2.1 million, he added.
