Drones are used to fight forest fires in the Khabarovsk Territory
In 2026, forest fires in the Khabarovsk Territory will be fought using drones. 75 drones are already in service with the fire services, and three more will be added to them this year.
This was stated by German Gomboev, Deputy Minister of Forestry and Timber Processing of the region, speaking at a meeting on preparations for the fire season in the Federation Council.
According to the official cited by IA AmurMedia, of those drones that are in service with the regional emergency services, the majority (48) of the geoscopes are of domestic production.
In addition, 22 aircraft, including six Cessna 182 light aircraft and two Mi-2 helicopters, will be involved in fighting fires.
At the moment, the readiness of forest fire equipment is 88%, the staffing of specialists is 62%. By mid-April, when the fire season begins, staff and equipment training should be completed. 866 people and 928 pieces of equipment will be engaged in extinguishing the fire.
The agency recalls that in 2025, the area of forest fires in the Khabarovsk Territory exceeded several tens of thousands of hectares. In some cases, the fire threatened populated areas. In the spring, an emergency regime and a special fire protection regime were introduced in the region. There was a ban on visiting forests.
The fire hazard period ended in mid-November. The likelihood of fires has been significantly reduced due to the cold snap and precipitation.
