Russian striker of "Pittsburgh" Evgeni Malkin prematurely completed the home meeting of the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL) against "Buffalo".

The forward received a disciplinary fine until the end of the game for gross violation of the rules. The incident occurred in the first minute of the second period. The 39-year-old Russian hit Rasmus Dalin, the captain and defender of the guests, in the face with a stick. The judges regarded the striker's actions as a serious violation, issuing him a heavy fine and removing him from the court before the final siren, the newspaper Sport-Express added.

Malkin has managed to participate in 46 games this season, scoring 47 points (13 goals scored and 34 assists). However, the absence of one of the leaders negatively affected the result of Pittsburgh — the meeting ended with a crushing defeat of the Penguins with a score of 1:5.

On March 4, Russian striker Kirill Kaprizov set a historic achievement by becoming the best sniper of the Minnesota Wild club. The Russian was recognized as the first star of the meeting. He is currently the leader of his team with 75 points (35 goals + 40 assists).
