Italy intends to take a leading role in the process of rebuilding Ukraine. This was stated on March 5 by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

"In conclusion, Meloni reaffirmed Italy's solidarity with the Ukrainian people, assuring that Italy will play a leading role in the country's reconstruction process," Meloni's office said in a statement following the talks.
