The United States itself undermined its sanctions against Russia when it launched a military operation in the Middle East. This was stated on March 5 by Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional legislation, in the Telegram channel.

He noted that against the background of the escalation, India began to buy Russian oil again. Iran's closure of the transit of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the Strait of Hormuz was an "unpleasant surprise" for Washington, the senator said.

"It was the United States that did everything possible to stop the transit of oil and LNG through the Strait of Hormuz. And thus they undermined their own oil sanctions against Russia," Pushkov said.
