There has never been a "red light" on bringing cases against high-ranking officials in Russia. This was announced on March 5 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with journalist Alexander Yunashev.

This is how he commented on the detention of the former first Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Ruslan Tsalikov.

"There has never been a red light. Law enforcement officers are working," Peskov replied when asked if there was a feeling that the security forces had been given the green light to work with high—ranking officials.

The press secretary of the Russian president also noted that the Kremlin does not know the details of the case against Tsalikov.

The detention of ex-Deputy Defense Minister Tsalikov became known earlier that day. According to investigators, in 2017-2024, the defendant created a criminal community, whose members committed embezzlement of budget funds, laundered money and received bribes. Later, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow placed him under house arrest.
