Azerbaijan has temporarily closed the border with Iran for all types of trucks due to the crash of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the Nakhichevan airport. This was reported on the Azerbaijani government's website on March 5.

"Taking into account the current situation caused by these attacks, which contradict the norms and principles of international law, the Cabinet of Ministers has taken an appropriate decision to temporarily completely suspend the movement of trucks," the statement said.

It is noted that these measures will also apply to those transiting vehicles. Motorists driving the designated vehicles will not be able to enter Azerbaijan through a single checkpoint.

The APA news agency reported on the morning of March 5 that an Iranian UAV crashed at the airport in Nakhichevan. The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case into the incident and ordered a preliminary investigation.

On the same day, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that there was no intention to attack Nakhichevan and recalled that Tehran had initially warned that its targets would be only the bases of the "American and Zionist regimes." Later, the agency expressed regret for the victims of the incident.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
