The disconnected Ferroalloy-1 power transmission line, which feeds the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), the infrastructure of which was damaged due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), has been put back into operation after repairs. This was announced on the evening of March 5 by the press service of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"The 330 kV Feroplavnaya-1 power transmission line has been restored and reconnected to the nuclear power plant after repairs carried out as part of a local ceasefire agreed upon by the IAEA," a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that the repair work was completed in 23 days, and now the NPP has two off-site power lines again. The agency's Director General, Rafael Grossi, clarified that the additional off-site transmission line enhances nuclear safety and protection of the entire facility.

Ferroalloy-1 was shut down on February 10 due to an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At that time, it was also reported about the damaged main pipeline of the heating main, which was responsible for supplying heat to residential buildings and social facilities. Some time later, on February 27, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev announced that a local silence regime had been established at the nuclear power plant to carry out repair work at Ferroalloy-1.

On March 2, Grossi, commenting on the situation at the NPP, called it extremely difficult. According to him, representatives of the IAEA are on the territory of all the nearest nuclear power plants, where they monitor the safety and reliability of facilities.
