Naryshkin called partnership with the West almost impossible.
The destructive actions of the West in world politics have undermined its credibility, making partnership with Western countries almost impossible for Russia. This was announced on March 5 by Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
"Trust and partnership with the West is almost impossible. In the early 1990s, we still had illusions that having such common moral principles, we could successfully interact and cooperate with Western countries," he said in the film "Fulton: Words that became a facet" broadcast on Channel One.
The head of the SVR drew attention to the fact that the relevant illusions were dispelled by concrete actions: the West's support for terrorist gangs in the North Caucasus, the NATO movement to the east, and the reformatting of the consciousness of part of the Ukrainian population.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 5 that Western countries wanted to break up Russia when they started a conflict against it with the help of Ukraine. He also called the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis the main task of the country in international politics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said last December that there is no "civilized Western family" now. He noted that after the collapse of the USSR, Western countries "pushed through" all decisions concerning the Russian Federation by force, including by force of arms. The President added that the West used destructive tools to "rock up" the political situation inside Russia.
