Allergist Alexandra Molochkova said that when choosing a bouquet for March 8, it should be remembered that some plants can cause health problems.

According to the expert, people who are prone to allergies should choose flowers especially carefully, as some of them can cause unpleasant reactions, Radio 1 reported on Thursday, March 5.

As Molochkova noted, lilies are considered the most "aggressive": their strong fragrance can provoke headaches and respiratory spasms even in a healthy person, and pollen is a strong allergen. She also recommended avoiding gerberas and chrysanthemums, as their pollen spreads quickly throughout the room.

The specialist added that lilies of the valley can also cause an unpleasant reaction due to the intense smell, and decorative sunflowers sometimes provoke severe allergies. In addition, the doctor does not advise giving bouquets of wildflowers, as well as compositions of cereals and dried flowers, as they actively accumulate dust, the Moscow city News agency notes.

Molochkova named roses, daffodils and tulips as the safest options. In her opinion, it is even better to give a flower in a pot — it will last longer and will not create a risk to health. 360.ru .

Yesterday, Polina Voronina, director of b2b marketing at the Flowwow flower and gift marketplace, said that tulips remain the most popular flowers that Russians give away on International Women's Day. They are bought about twice as often as any other bouquets.

Also on March 4, the State Duma proposed to stop the increase in flower prices before March 8. Fair Russia suggested checking for possible violations of antimonopoly legislation. The deputies noted that a week before the holiday, the retail price of tulips exceeded 300 rubles apiece and warned that without intervention, the cost could rise even more.

On the same day, Mikhail Vetrov, chairman of the Association of Manufacturers of Children's Goods, Works and Services, proposed limiting prices for bouquets by March 8. The high demand for flowers provokes unscrupulous sellers to inflate the retail value of flowers: a simple bouquet in honor of Women's Day can cost several thousand rubles, writes RT.
