- The court sentenced Lazareva to seven years in prison for evading the duties of a foreign agent.
A magistrate in Moscow found TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva guilty in absentia (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists) and sentenced her to seven years in a general regime colony and four years of a ban on the administration of information resources in the combined case of evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was reported on March 5 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
Earlier, the prosecutor asked for one year and nine months of correctional labor in absentia and a deduction of 10% of wages in favor of the state.
"Taking into account the verdict of the military court, they requested seven years in prison with a four—year ban on website administration," said lawyer Leonid Solovyov.
On February 20, hearings on the criminal case against Lazareva resumed at judicial station No. 418 of the Presnensky district of Moscow. The charge was filed under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evasion from fulfilling duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents").
Listed as a terrorist and extremist since June 2022, and also included in the register of foreign agents since July of the same year, Lazareva was arrested in absentia by the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow on July 10, 2024, in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda terrorism using mass media, including the Internet").
A correspondent for Izvestia, who broadcast on October 7 from the Presnensky courtroom in Moscow, reported that the TV presenter had been sentenced in absentia to seven years in a penal colony. Later, in December last year, the TV presenter appealed to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation against the verdict in the case of justifying terrorism. On February 4, the Moscow City Court, at the request of the prosecutor's office, overturned the sentence in absentia of TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring) and referred her case of evading the duties of a foreign agent for a new trial.
