Vasily Kuznetsov, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expressed the opinion that the conflict with the United States and Israel could strengthen Iran's role in the Middle East if it maintains stability.

In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Thursday, March 5, the expert noted that if the situation on the frontline develops in favor of Tehran and the country manages to maintain internal stability, then Iran's role in the region may strengthen, and the coming months will be decisive.

At the same time, according to him, the stability of Iran's political system is now undergoing a serious test, which in the future may lead to a decrease in the country's influence in the Middle East, writes RT.

The orientalist also added that the conflict is already affecting Iran's relations with the Persian Gulf monarchies and Jordan: if there was a tendency towards rapprochement earlier, then after the Iranian attacks on American bases in these states, the opportunities for strengthening ties have noticeably decreased.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the crisis in the Middle East could lead to enormous consequences for the entire world and the economy. The diplomat stressed that the consequences of the conflict could be frightening, according to the website. kp.ru .

The Minister noted that civilians suffer during the conflict. According to him, the Russian Federation sees the scale of damage to the civilian infrastructure of all Persian Gulf countries. The Russian Foreign Minister added that what is happening requires the close attention of the international community, IA Regnum clarifies.

At the same time, Alexey Podberezkin, director of the MGIMO Center for Military and Political Studies, said in an interview with the National News Council that only the United Kingdom was able to provide real assistance to the United States in a possible military campaign against Iran. The remaining NATO members will limit themselves to support or symbolic actions. Podberezkin expressed confidence that a potential war would bring the United States a lot of difficulties, notes 360.ru .
