Kallas pointed to a possible increase in the migration flow to the EU.
European countries fear increased migration pressure due to the escalation in the Middle East. This was stated on March 5 by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, at a press conference dedicated to the extraordinary meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU) and the Persian Gulf.
"Obviously, if the conflict drags on, the risks of migration pressure on Europe will increase, and we must be prepared for this," she is quoted as saying on the website of the EU diplomatic service.
According to Callas, the European Union is also currently negotiating with other countries, with which it cooperates to further discuss the initiative and options for solving the problem.
The Politico newspaper noted on March 3 that the EU had recognized its unpreparedness for the conflict in the Middle East and was now forced to watch it as a spectator. At the same time, European countries do not have enough leverage in the region to take any significant steps, the publication pointed out.
