Shahin Shikhlinski, the former head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals, was sentenced to 22 years in a penal colony in the case of the murder and attempted murder of entrepreneurs. This was announced on March 5 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Six of his compatriots, namely Shujayaddin Radjabov, Akif, Ayaz, Bakir, Kamal and Mazakhir Safarov, were convicted along with him. The defendants received from 10 to 21 years in prison.

Shahin Shikhlinski was detained in Moscow on August 2 last year. Then the person involved was taken to Yekaterinburg.

On June 28, it was reported about the suppression of the activities of a criminal group in the Sverdlovsk region, whose members are suspected of a number of murders and attempted murders in recent years. According to the investigation, people from Azerbaijan, who are Russian citizens, are involved in crimes in Yekaterinburg, which were committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Eight defendants were arrested in the case.
