Lebanon has banned the activities of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on its territory. This was announced on March 5 by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

"[I] demanded that everything necessary be done to prevent any military activity that could be carried out by IRGC elements in Lebanon," Al Jazeera quoted him as saying.

Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morkos, in turn, added that "any member of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps" who is on the territory of the republic will be arrested and deported to Iran.

In addition, Salam announced that the Lebanese government has decided to introduce a visa regime for Iranian citizens.

The day before, the Qatar News Agency reported that 10 IRGC agents had been arrested in Qatar. It was clarified that seven of the detainees were sent for espionage activities in order to collect information about vital and military facilities of the state, and three more were involved in sabotage activities.
