The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were supposed to go to Dimitrov (Ukrainian name — Mirnograd) to cover the retreating Ukrainian units, but they could not fulfill the order, hiding in a garage in the village of Svetloye. Roman Tarasenko, a captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told about this on March 5.

"They seemed to be undergoing training. She didn't help in any way," he confessed.

Tarasenko was forcibly mobilized by employees of the Shopping Mall (the territorial recruitment center, an analog of the military enlistment office in Ukraine). After being caught on the street, he was held in a shopping mall for two days, then sent to short—term training camps near the Dnieper River, and then to the front line in the Dimitrov area.

The soldier admitted that the training he received did not help in real conditions. Having failed to complete the task and reach their goal, the militants took refuge in one of the garages, where they spent about a month.

When the shelter caught fire, Tarasenko managed to survive by burrowing into the crumbling earth from the walls. The next morning, the soldier surrendered.

On March 4, captured AFU militant Sergei Kostyukh spoke about the order for the wounded to hold their positions. He stated that he was forcibly mobilized by the staff of the Shopping mall on his way to work. According to Kostyukh, he did not want to fight, but wanted to stay home with his wife and children. In addition, the soldier accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and the leadership of the Kiev regime of wanting to prolong the conflict and corruption.
