Preparations for floods have begun in Stavropol
A meeting of the commission on emergency situations devoted to preparations for spring floods was held in Stavropol. The city services are starting preventive measures to reduce the risk of flooding, the press service of the mayor's office reports.
The head of the city, Ivan Ulyanchenko, instructed to inspect all 60 water bodies located in the territory of the regional capital and assess the readiness of hydraulic structures.
Employees of the city management committee, together with the districts, will check all rivers, streams, ponds, drainage systems, roadside ditches, storm drains, culverts and scaffolding channels. The district administrations will specify the registers of houses and the number of citizens living in areas of possible flooding.
According to the StavropolMedia news agency, a group of urban emergency management forces consisting of 217 people and 70 pieces of equipment has already been formed to combat the flood. Resource supply organizations will also alert emergency crews and autonomous power supply sources.
Earlier it was reported that video cameras will be installed in the forests of the Stavropol Territory to monitor fires. They will be able to detect fires at a distance of up to 10 km.
