Some NATO and European Union (EU) countries consider the deployment of their Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine unacceptable. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on March 5.

According to him, it is too early to talk about the specific parameters of a possible international mission, since the conditions for a ceasefire or a possible peaceful settlement have not been determined.

"No one understands yet what the ceasefire or truce regime will be and what control mechanisms may appear. Therefore, it is still quite difficult to discuss the parameters of potential missions to be deployed on the line of contact or on the territory of Ukraine," Denisov said.

The political scientist also commented on the position of Poland, which opposed sending alliance forces to Ukraine. According to him, in this case, Polish soldiers will be under direct threat.

"If we were talking about Polish military personnel, it has been repeatedly noted that they immediately become legitimate targets for Russia. Accordingly, there is a direct threat to their lives, and not everyone in Poland supports sending soldiers to Ukrainian territory," the expert emphasized.

In addition, he added that Warsaw's direct involvement in the conflict could pose serious risks to the security of the country and the entire region. In the event of an escalation, there is a possibility of a broader confrontation between Russia and NATO.

Denisov also said that there are already disagreements within the North Atlantic Alliance on the issue of sending military contingents to Ukraine. According to him, only a limited number of countries allow such a possibility, while the majority of states are against it.

Warsaw, in its new Strategy for Poland's foreign policy, planned for 2026-2030, opposed sending a NATO military contingent to Ukraine. According to the document, the possible involvement of the forces of the member states of the alliance "cannot be carried out to the detriment of the reliability of security guarantees for Poland and other allies."

Before that, on February 27, the Myśl Polska newspaper reported that Warsaw should develop a plan to close the border between Ukraine and Poland due to the increase in crime in the neighboring country. According to the author of the article, the authorities should consult with their neighbors in the European Union (EU), as well as build a wall on the border.
