Sobyanin spoke about increasing the accessibility of public transport in Moscow

This year, the Moscow authorities will continue to implement measures aimed at improving the comfort and accessibility of urban transport. This was announced by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his channel in the MAX.

"As always, our focus is on the development of the ticket system. The widest choice of fare payment methods in the world and a flexible fare menu for different requests and needs of passengers are already presented," he wrote.

Taking into account the growing popularity of the most profitable method of paying for travel — by biometrics — this year this method will continue to be implemented at the stations of the Moscow Ring Road, and it is also planned to launch it in land transport, the mayor said. In 2025, biometrics "became available at all turnstiles of all metro stations and the MCC, and the number of users of the service doubled last year, exceeding 710 thousand people," Sobyanin stressed.

In addition, Moscow-made turnstiles and modern ticket terminals will be more actively used at metro stations. The new turnstiles will increase the capacity of metro stations by up to 40%. Innovative terminals ticket terminals operate faster, which will double the speed of passenger service, the mayor added.

The Passenger Mobility Center will continue to help passengers, including those with limited mobility. Last year, the number of routes along which TsOMP employees accompany passengers for free at metro and MCC stations increased by 15 and reached 370.

In early March, Sobyanin announced that in 2026 the city's public transport fleet will be replenished with more than 400 new electric buses. The total number of electric buses in the capital will exceed 3,300 units, and their share in the fleet of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans will reach 45%. As a result, Moscow will retain its leading position among European and US cities in terms of the number of electric buses in operation and will continue its systematic transition to environmentally friendly urban transport.
