The Meshchansky district court of Moscow rejected the claim of the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Timur Ivanov, convicted of accepting bribes, in which he asked to oblige the military enlistment office to give him an answer to the request to be sent to a special operation. This was reported to Izvestia on March 5 in the court's press service.

The defendants in the case are the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Military Commissariat of the capital. Ivanov demanded that the actions of the agencies allegedly ignoring his requests for a contract to participate in a special military operation be declared illegal. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

On March 2, a representative of the Moscow Military Commissariat stated that Ivanov had already been refused to be sent to his military base.

In October, the defense reported that Ivanov had agreed to serve in the special operation zone as part of an assault unit. He applied to the Unified Selection Point for military service under a contract in Moscow with a statement of his desire to conclude a contract for any position in his military area. The letter was sent by mail and received by the addressee in November 2025, but the plaintiff did not receive a response.

The former deputy minister was detained on April 23, 2024 on charges of accepting a bribe. According to investigators, Ivanov entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and signed contracts with them in exchange for personal rewards. In July, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison and fined 100 million rubles.
