Cognac, which received an organic certificate, appeared on the Russian market for the first time. This was announced on March 5 in Roskachestvo.

"The certification of organic production was passed by SARL Les Vignobles L&G Arrive company from France in the accredited body Roskachestvo Organic," RIA Novosti reports.

The ministry explained that strict requirements are observed in the production of organic cognac. In particular, when growing grapes, the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides is completely excluded.

In addition, the use of artificial additives, flavors and dyes is not allowed at the stages of distillation and aging. It also ensures full traceability of products at all stages of production — from growing grapes to bottling the drink.

Roskachestvo recalled that all companies producing certified organic products are included in the Unified State Register of Organic Producers of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. At the same time, only a product that has passed the appropriate certification in an accredited body can be called organic in the country.

Elena Myasnikova, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Food Technology and Bioengineering at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, announced on February 26 that the GOST for beer 2012 will be replaced next year by a new standard that expands the possibilities of using different types of malt in the creation of this foamy drink. Rye, buckwheat, millet and oat malt will be allowed to be used in beer production.
