An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacked the Akrotiri airbase in southern Cyprus. It is assumed that the drone was not launched from the territory of Iran. This was announced on March 4 by Sky News on the social network X, citing a representative of the British Ministry of Defense.

"The drone similar to the Shahed that struck the Royal Air Force base in Cyprus was not launched from Iran," said a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense.

At the same time, the British Ministry of Defense claims that the drone is visually similar to the Iranian Shahed-type attack UAV, which is actively used in the war zone in the Middle East.

An explosion occurred at the British airbase in Cyprus on March 2. It is specified that American fighters are refueling at this base. The IRGC later added, citing Israeli media, that the Cyprus base had been decommissioned after an Iranian missile strike.
