US prosecutors have closed the investigation into Biden's signature with a pen.
US federal prosecutors have dropped a criminal investigation into the possible illegal use by former President Joe Biden of an automatic device for signing pardon documents. This was reported on March 4 by the CBS News channel, citing sources.
"Federal prosecutors are terminating a criminal investigation into the illegal use by former President Joe Biden and his assistants of an automatic device for signing pardons," the publication says.
According to the channel's sources, the investigation was closed after law enforcement agencies did not find sufficient legal grounds to continue it.
We are talking about using the so—called autopera, a device that automatically reproduces the signature on official documents. The publication notes that earlier the use of such a mechanism raised questions about the legality of the signed acts of pardon.
On January 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during the final press conference on the results of diplomatic activity in 2025, joked about former US President Biden's use of a fountain pen to sign documents during his presidency.
On December 2 last year, American leader Donald Trump announced that he was canceling all documents signed by Biden, which were signed with a fountain pen. According to the American leader, people who have received documents of pardon or commutation signed in this way should pay attention to the fact that they have been completely annulled.
Prior to that, on September 24, Trump replaced Biden's portrait on the "presidential walk of fame" with a photo of a billionaire.
