China has announced its intention to launch "decisive strikes" against separatists in Taiwan.

China intends to work towards reunification with Taiwan, and will also launch "decisive strikes" against the separatists who advocate the island's independence. This position of the country's authorities was reflected on March 5 in the report of the 4th session of the National People's Congress (NPC) of the 14th convocation.

"We will launch decisive strikes against separatist forces advocating the so—called independence of Taiwan, resist the interference of external forces, promote the peaceful development of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and advance the great cause of the reunification of the motherland," the document says.
