Footage of the liberation of Veselyanka in the Zaporozhye region was published on March 5 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The paratroopers of the 247th Guards Airborne Assault Caucasian Cossack Regiment of the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain Unit of the Airborne Troops (Airborne Forces) of the Russian Federation showed courage and perseverance in the battles for the liberation of the settlement.
Airborne units of the Dnepr group of forces cleared shelters and dugouts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with the assistance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which covered the attack aircraft and conducted aerial reconnaissance.
Russian gunners worked across vast territories, ensuring the advance of the assault groups.
The Defense Ministry stressed that Russian military personnel continue to liberate settlements in the area of the special military operation, courageously carry out combat missions, use modern equipment and use new tactics.
On March 3, the Russian Armed Forces liberated the village of Veselyanka in the Zaporizhia region. In addition, the North group of troops took control of Bobylivka in the Sumy region. The enemy's losses amounted to over 200 soldiers, an armored personnel carrier and a Bogdana self-propelled artillery system.
On March 4, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 247th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment of the Caucasian Order of Kutuzov Cossack Regiment on the liberation of Veselyanka.
