France will use materials dismantled from old Cold War warheads to create new nuclear warheads. This was announced on March 4 by Catherine Vautrin, Minister of the Armed Forces of the Fifth Republic, in an interview with Le Dauphin Libéré newspaper.

"We have preserved the fissile materials (uranium and plutonium) from nuclear warheads dismantled after the Cold War," she said.
