The reason for the large-scale power outage throughout Iraq has been named.
The power outage recorded in Iraq occurred due to technical reasons. This was announced on Wednesday evening, March 4, by Attaqa, citing a statement from the country's Ministry of Electric Power.
"The Ministry of Electric Power explained that the power outage in Iraq is nothing more than a technical accident," the publication says.
The incident, as explained, occurred due to a sharp drop in gas supplies to the Rumaila power plant in Basra province. This led to a rapid loss of 1,9 thousand. MW, which in turn affected the operation of power transmission lines and production plants.
Specialists, according to Attaqa, are currently engaged in restoration work. The Iraqi Ministry of Electric Energy appealed to its media and fellow citizens not to spread "malicious rumors", as well as to receive information from official sources.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported a complete power outage in Iraq on the evening of March 4. At that time, the reasons for the incident were not given. Later, Izvestia published footage of the situation in the Arab republic after the loss of light on its territory. On the video provided, it was clear that the lights were not working on the road, and there was not a single car on the highways.
On the same day, the US Embassy appealed to Americans staying in that country to evacuate as soon as possible. Those who do not have such an opportunity were advised to make supplies of food, water and medicines, as well as move to a safe room with no windows.
