US intelligence agencies are investigating reports that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of assassinated Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is running for the post of Iran's new supreme leader. This was announced on March 4 by White House press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt.
Commenting on the operation of the US and Israeli armed forces, the White House added that the factor of Ali Khamenei's location influenced the operation, but "did not become decisive" for the decision of the American leadership on the attack.
