In 2026, it is planned to launch the fourth regular river route Luzhniki – Kievsky in Moscow, as well as extend the third route Novospassky – ZIL. This was announced on Wednesday, March 4, by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

According to him, the Novospassky – ZIL route will be longer by more than 1.5 km and will be extended to the Krasnye Kholmy berth on the Kosmodamianskaya embankment. Eight new electric vessels are planned to be brought out to service the routes, Moscow 24 writes.

Sobyanin noted that the revival of regular passenger traffic on the Moskva River has become a unique project: Moscow is the first in the world to launch a year-round fully electric water transport. The first route opened in June 2023, and now three lines with a total length of about 30 km are already operating in the city, the Moscow City News agency reports.

The mayor added that 31 electric vessels, named after the small rivers of Moscow, have been purchased to operate on the routes. They are able to move even on shallow ice up to 20 cm thick. According to him, the new mode of transport has already become an alternative way of transportation for more than 1.8 million residents of 22 districts of the capital. 360.ru .
