Vladimir Putin held talks with the Hungarian Foreign Minister. The main thing
On March 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in the Kremlin with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto. The main statements of the Russian leader are in the material of Izvestia.
About relations with Hungary
Vladimir Putin pointed out that relations between Russia and Hungary are stable and developing in a positive way. He also pointed out that Moscow is aware of Szijjarto's efforts to maintain the dynamics of relations between the two countries, despite the well-known difficulties.
"In general, relations are stable and developing in a positive way, I mean energy policy issues, including hydrocarbons, and our flagship project is the Paks nuclear power plant," Putin said.
He also pointed out that the trade turnover between the two countries decreased by about 13% in 2025.
About oil
The Russian leader invited the Foreign Minister to discuss the situation on the global and European gas markets.
"As for hydrocarbons, I understand that this cannot but concern you, first of all, the supply of oil. But we can see what is happening now in the world's gas markets and in the European gas markets. We will discuss all these issues with pleasure. Everything that depends on us is that we have always fulfilled all our obligations, and, of course, we intend and are ready to do this," Vladimir Putin said.
He added that not everything depends on Russia, but pointed out that Moscow has always been a reliable supplier.
"You are aware of this, and I have been paying attention to your public statements on this matter. Just yesterday, Prime Minister [of Hungary] Mr. Orban and I talked about some issues," he added.
About prisoners of war
At the request of the Hungarian Foreign Minister, the Russian president agreed to release two Hungarian citizens who were forcibly mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin noted that during the telephone conversation, Orban also raised this issue and asked to consider the possibility of releasing Hungarian citizens who were captured by the Russian army.
"These are citizens who have dual citizenship, both Ukrainian and Hungarian. They were forcibly mobilized. I have decided to release two people," the Russian leader said, adding that the Hungarian Foreign Minister could pick them up on his plane.
