The expert commented on the new GOST in the field of manicure services

A new national standard for manicure and pedicure services will come into force in Russia on April 30, 2026. Although the document is of a recommendatory nature, market participants already predict that following it will become an important marketing tool and, possibly, a reason for reviewing pricing policy. Ekaterina Aleko, director of the PR department of the 4K marketing agency, told Izvestia about this.

According to the expert, the appearance of GOST in the beauty industry will create a new unique sales offer (USP) for salons.

"Standardization of the process will give businesses a differentiation tool. Salons that can demonstrate compliance with GOST in marketing — in the description of services, on the website or in social networks — will be able to position themselves as a guarantor of quality and safety. This is especially important in the fight for customers who are becoming more demanding of sterility, procedure time and transparency of service," she said.

The expert noted that the time limits set in the document (for example, up to 150 minutes for modeling) will not allow the craftsmen to save on the client without the risk of being accused of violating the standard. In the future, this may lead to an increase in the cost of services: more time per procedure means a higher final price. At the same time, small studios and private craftsmen will face a choice: comply with the regulations in full, which may slow down turnover and increase training costs, or risk losing consumer confidence.
