The risk of a short circuit led to the recall of Kia vehicles in Russia
The Korean company Kia is recalling 33,000 Rio family vehicles to replace the fuse of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) control unit. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Rosstandart on March 4.
The recall campaign covers 33,013 Kia Rio Qb family cars sold between 2011 and 2018. They may have a short circuit in the fuse box, Rosstandart said in a statement.
The multi-fuse of the HECU hydroelectronic control unit will be replaced on all recalled machines and a correct sticker will be applied to the fuse box cover.
The owners of the cars will be informed about the need to provide the car to the dealership for repairs by an authorized representative of the South Korean company Kia Russia and CIS LLC. They will need to contact the nearest dealership and arrange the time of the visit. All work will be carried out free of charge for the owners.
Owners can independently determine whether a car is subject to a recall by comparing the car's VIN code with the list on the Rosstandart website.
Sergey Tselikov, General Director of Autostat, told the ForAuto conference on February 26 that one of the key problems of the Russian car market is the lack of affordable foreign cars. According to him, over the past ten years, their market share has decreased from 33% to 2%. We are talking about such models as Renault Logan, Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, VW Polo, Skoda Rapid.
