The Pentagon has released footage of the destruction of an Iranian ship off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The Pentagon in the social network X (ex.Twitter) on March 4 posted footage of an American submarine sinking the Iranian ship IRIS Dena off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The footage shows how an American munition hits an already burning ship, after which a powerful explosion occurs.

Earlier, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth noted that the United States had sunk a warship of the Iranian Navy. He noted that this attack was the first time a ship had been sunk in international waters since World War II.

The loss of the fleet will not be critical for Tehran, experts believe.

The attack on the Iranian vessel became known earlier that day. According to the Reuters news agency, 101 of the 180 crew members were missing. Later, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra announced that about 80 bodies had been found at the site of the sinking of the Iranian ship.
