In his last statement, killer Konstantin Piskarev, known as Kostya Bolshoy, accused of trafficking weapons and explosives as part of a group, attempted murder and completed murder under particularly aggravating circumstances, called the arguments of the state prosecution "probability theory" and fiction. This was reported on March 4 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

In one of the episodes of the murder of ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Justice Vladimir Postyshev, Piskarev stated that the corpse and the burial place had not been found, and the witness could not confirm that he was the one who fired. The mother of the deceased testified that her son disappeared back in 2003 — he left home and did not return, which, according to the defendant, refutes the testimony of others.

"The accusation has turned into a theory of probability and fiction," the defendant said.

During his speech, Piskarev also pointed out inconsistencies in the testimony in the murder case, and the body was never found. He insists on the deliberately false testimony of the main witness and the lack of solid evidence. According to the defendant, the motive of the crime was chosen incorrectly by the investigation and contradicts the case file. Referring to the episode in Bryansk, Piskarev stated that there was no murder, and the information about the hijackings was not confirmed by customs data. He noted that the defendants were "throwing arrows" at each other, but the remains had not been found.

Speaking about the contract killing, the accused turned to the prosecutor with a rhetorical question: "Let the prosecution decide: is Piskarev a millionaire, does he own steamboats, or did he exchange for two Volkswagen Passat?" He also accused the state prosecution of providing deliberately false information. Regarding the episode of the murder of another person, Piskarev pointed out that the prosecution is based on probability theory, the body has not been found, and the testimony of witnesses contradict each other. The defense drew attention to discrepancies in details: discrepancies in the number of specified places, the description of Piskarev's clothes and the method of murder. In the Makarov murder case, the defendant denies acquaintance with the victim.

He stated that Mishin, who took over the business for himself, gave contradictory statements, changed them in court and could not pinpoint either the murder site or the burial site. Commenting on the episode with the notary in the Savchenko case, the defendant wondered: "I give money, I call a notary public to insure myself. And I'm also calling a fake notary?", insisting on the authenticity of the document.

In the Shirokhin case, the defense insists that Lozovsky's contract killing has not been confirmed. Piskarev claims that Shirokhin is "alive and well," and Lozovsky himself was in another organized crime group, with which Piskarev had a conflict of interest due to the markets. During the speech, the judge reprimanded Piskarev six times for deviating from the essence of the case. After several verbal exchanges, the presiding judge interrupted the speech and ordered the defendant to be removed from the courtroom.

Piskarev's defense asked the jury to acquit him on February 19. According to the defender, the burial sites of the alleged victims have not been identified, and such mandatory signs of the group as financial community and unity of purpose have not been confirmed.

In 2022, Piskarev and eight of his accomplices refused to fully admit their guilt in banditry, murder, kidnapping and illegal arms trafficking. However, according to investigators, Piskarev has committed 21 murders since the mid-1990s. However, the bodies of some of the victims have not yet been found.

According to investigators, the Kosti Bolshoy organized crime group has been keeping several Russian regions at bay for almost 20 years. Piskarev is also charged with the shooting of Sergiev Posad mayor Yevgeny Dushko in 2011, as well as the massacre of Postyshev in 2003 and the director of the Scientific Center for Legal Information at the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation Marat Gazizov in 2004.
