Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev paid a visit to the Iranian Embassy in Baku, where he left a note of condolences in the funeral book after the death of Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This was announced on March 4 by the press service of the Azerbaijani leader.

"Aliev <... He expressed his condolences over the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and many civilians," the head of state's website said.

After that, Aliev spoke with Iranian Ambassador Mujtaba Demirchilu, noting that he will always remember with the most pleasant impressions the meetings with Khamenei that took place during his visits to Iran.

As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted on March 4, the assassination of Iran's supreme leader Khamenei and a number of the country's leaders is meanness. The diplomat stressed that the alleged "Iranian threat" was only a pretext for implementing a plan to violently overthrow the constitutional order in Tehran.

The protected compound of Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran was damaged on February 28 as a result of Israeli strikes on Tehran. The residence where Khamenei usually stays and holds meetings with the country's leadership was significantly damaged. Iran's State Television (IRIB) confirmed Khamenei's death on March 1. He was killed early on Saturday morning, February 28, while performing work duties at his residence.

The farewell ceremony for Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, who died as a result of a strike by the United States and Israel, will begin on the evening of March 4 and last for three days.
