Reuters has learned about Syria's closure of the border with Lebanon
The Syrian Directorate of Land and Sea Borders announced the closure of one of the checkpoints on the border with Lebanon after receiving a warning from Israel that the country's Defense Forces (IDF) could strike at this border crossing. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on March 4.
"The Syrian Land and Sea Ports Authority announced on Wednesday that it had closed the border crossing with Lebanon," the article says.
According to the newspaper, the Jaydet Yabus checkpoint will remain open for entry until all Syrian citizens return to their homeland from Lebanon.
On March 2, the IDF announced that the Israeli Air Force had intercepted a rocket launched from Lebanon into Israeli territory. It was clarified that several shells landed in open areas.
On the same day, it was noted that Israeli air defense systems were operating in the skies over Syria. Explosions were also heard in the sky over the Syrian city of Quneitra and in a number of other settlements.
